Dallas Criminal Defense Attorney Barry Sorrels Analyzes the Case of Naser Jason Abdo on News 8

Dallas Criminal Defense Lawyer Barry Sorrels tells News 8 that Naser Jason Abdo, a soldier arrested in a bombing plot, only made things worse for himself in his recent courtroom appearance in Waco. News 8 reports that in court on July 29, Adbo allegedly yelled out the name of an Iraqi girl who was raped and murdered in 2006, and the name of Major Abdul Nidal Hasan, whose rampage killed and wounded numerous soldiers November 2009 at Fort Hood. “All of that would be admissible,” said Sorrels, who added that it appears that Abdo is “doing everything he can to make his situation worse.” Court documents allege that Abdo planned to detonate a bomb inside a restaurant that was popular with soldiers. As of July 29, Mr. Abdo had only been charged with possession of an unregistered destructive device, according to News 8. “Believe me, come Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday of next week, I wouldn’t be surprised if they’ve added additional charges, once they have time to analyze everything,” Sorrels said. John Teakell was Interviewed by NBC5 Regarding John Wiley Price FBI Investigation

http://www.TeakellLaw.com | Dallas Criminal Defense Attorney and Legal Expert John Teakell, a former Federal Prosecutor, was interviewed by NBC-5 News regarding the FBI investigation of Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price.
The FBI search warrant of Dallas County Commissioner John Wiley Price’s house reveals agents were looking for communications between Price and 11 people and 24 companies, including some of the biggest names in North Texas.
The warrant, released Thursday by Price’s attorneys, provides new insight into the sweeping nature of the FBI’s investigation but also raises questions about why agents are interested in certain people and businesses, such as American Airlines, advertising agency Weber Shandwick, Fort Worth developer Hillwood and Walmart.
All four companies are listed as clients of Kathy Nealy, a longtime Price friend who runs a political consulting company.
Nealy’s home and office were raided June 27 at the same time agents searched the homes and offices of Price and his assistant, Dapheny Fain.
The FBI has not commented on the investigation, and Price’s attorney, Billy Ravkind, said agents have also not told him why his client is under investigation. Ravkind described the investigation as “a bunch of crap.”
“We don’t know exactly what they think they’re going to find,” he said.
“I don’t think he’s ever taken a bribe in his life,” Ravkind said. “If they prove that he has, then we go to jail — that simple.”
The warrant reveals agents were looking for “notes, writings, communications or other records” involving Fain, Nealy, state Sen. Royce West, art shop owner Karen Manning and others.
Records for the sale and purchase of automobiles were included, as were any records in the sale or ownership of real estate properties and a yearly festival Price founded, Kwanzaafest.
Notes related to Price’s activities with Kwanzaafest, including documents regarding VIP receptions, solicitations for contributions, check registers and purchase orders are included as well.
Two company names come up often in the document — Millennium 2000 and Male Man or MMS Company.
Male Man, also doing business as MMS Company, is a distributor of electronics, branded merchandise and employee incentives, according to its business website.
Millennium 2000 is an art gallery that sells African art. The shop’s owner, Manning, is referenced multiple times in the search warrant.
Additionally, photographs from Price’s birthday party fundraising events, electronic storage devices, Price’s address book and calendar and all financial information were included in the warrant.
